PRP Facials & Facelifts

PRP Facials & Facelifts – what are these treatments and what is the difference between these two procedures?

Let’s explain by separating the two services for ease of understanding.

PRP Facial Treatment is very much like a microneedling facial/treatment with the exception being that we are using the PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma from your own blood as a serum to be infused into your skin as opposed to using a serum of hyaluronic acid.  While hyaluronic acid will infuse your skin with hydration during a microneedling treatment, platelets are the cells in your blood that help to heal and cause new cell growth.  Or said another way, platelets will generate new collagen, generate repair to your cells while stimulating new cell growth.  When you combine new collagen, new cellular growth and repair of cells, you will combat the cause of so much skin damage and aging over the years. PRP is often referred to as Liquid Gold!  PRP is also known as Regenerative Cell Therapy.

What is our skin goal as it pertains to all over skin rejuvenation?

The process steps… First, we will draw your blood from your arm. We then put it into a centrifuge and spin out the platelets, separating them from the red blood cells.  From here, these platelets become the serum that will be microneedled into your skin.  This is a full-face prp treatment.

PRP Face Lift – PRP is also known as Regenerative Cell Therapy

While many of us love to have a dermal filler injected into our face for lifting and filling in shallow lines, a PRP facelift takes this one step further.  A PRP Face Lift is an injection of dermal filler along with Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP.  As explained above, platelet rich plasma is about the creation of new collagen growth and repair of cellular damage while stimulating new cell growth.  This causes a rejuvenation of your skin that dermal filler alone cannot do.

Our PRP Facial Process

Step 1: Preparatory Facial

Before your PRP treatment, we perform a free comprehensive skin analysis. This guides the tailoring of an individualized plan to address your unique requirements. We may request that you have a preparatory facial service two weeks in advance of PRP therapy, to ensure your skin is prepared and ready for the microneedling treatment.

Step 2: Blood Collection and PRP Preparation

When you arrive for your PRP therapy, our registered nurse will draw a tube of blood from your arm. It is centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma fraction from the red and white blood cells. This extract is your unique PRP serum that will be micro needled into your skin.

Step 3: Cleansing and Numbing

Your face is thoroughly cleansed to remove any trace of products and eliminate any chance of infection. We may apply numbing cream 30 minutes before the microneedling procedure, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Step 4: Microneedling with PRP

We use the technologically advanced Dermapen automated microneedling therapy system. This device introduces the PRP directly into your skin through the segmented delivery of microneedles. The microneedles pierce the epidermal and dermal layers to a carefully controlled and specified depth. Microneedling with PRP naturally stimulates collagen and elastin regeneration with minimal damage, inducing remarkable and long-lasting results.

Upgrade Your PRP Facial to a PRP Facelift

A PRP Facelift incorporates the addition of dermal filler along with your PRP Facial.  Before you undergo the microneedling part of the process described in Step 4 above, we inject the dermal filler into all the troublesome parts of your face. These may include the areas under your eyes, nasal labial folds, upper lip, chin, and marionette lines. The dermal filler has a dual function—it fills in those fine lines to produce instantly visible results and acts as a scaffold to hold the platelets in place.

While the PRP Facial targets your whole face, our PRP Facelift proactively pinpoints defined trouble areas using dermal filler. Essentially, you’re getting two treatments in one! You can take it a step further by opting for an exosome treatment, too. These powerful microscopic packets of proteins are fantastic at scar reduction and further boost collagen production.

What is our skin goal as it pertains to all PRP Facelift?

The process steps… First, we will draw blood from your arm. We then put it into a centrifuge and spin out the platelets, separating them from the red blood cells.  The first step in the process is to add dermal filler into all the troubled areas of your face. These are typically under the eyes, nasal labial folds, upper lip, and chin or marionette lines. While the filler will provide some instant and visible results, it also becomes the “glue” to hold the platelets in place and the exosomes too if you choose them.

Is PRP Safe? Risks and Recovery

Is PRP safe?

PRP is an extremely safe, proven technique:

  • It can’t induce allergies as your own cells are harvested for use.
  • There is no risk of disease transmission.
  • PRP is a natural product and no chemicals are used.
  • It is non-surgical and non-invasive.
  • The microneedling Dermapen is non-ablative (doesn’t remove any skin tissue).

What are the risks?

PRP carries a minute risk of infection because the skin is being pierced. We use disposable microneedling cartridges and ensure that we maintain the highest standards of sterility.

How long for recovery?

Your face may be a bit red and swollen for a couple of days and there’s a slight chance of bruising or bleeding. However, these problems resolve rapidly without intervention. Remember, PRP promotes healing!
